The number one rule for real estate success
What does it take to be successful in this job?
The key is turning up.
Be at the office early every day. Attend that community event. Call that past client. Follow up on that appraisal. Run that extra open home. Send that email newsletter.
Don't overthink it. Just turn up.
Don't worry about being perfect; no one is. You don't need to get everything right, but you definitely need to be present for anything good to happen.
That might sound ridiculously simple, but it's a key point that many salespeople simply forget.
It's incredibly easy to talk yourself out of turning up. Social anxiety, insecurity, frustration and a lack of motivation are all valid feelings that affect every one of us at certain points throughout our lives. Especially when work isn't going well.
The challenge is pulling yourself up off the couch to take action because nothing is going to change while you are sitting at home.
You simply have to turn up to this job if you want to get anywhere.
One of the beautiful aspects of real estate is that there is always constant demand for our services. People are always buying and selling houses. We are surrounded by potential clients everywhere we go.
The trick is finding the owners who are considering selling soon. And once you've identified who those owners are, you need to convince them you are the best person to help.
The game of identifying near-term potential sellers and gaining their trust can only be won by connecting with people. There is simply no other way.
You don't have to be perfect, but you definitely have to be there.
